5 months

Dear Daileyanne~
Can I have a favorite month already? (Or again?) Because my little girl this would be it! You have become SO interactive! You love your dogs, poor things have been very tolerant of your tugs. Once you are mobile they are in trouble! It's so sweet to watch you in the mornings with them. Virgina scoots as close as she can and with your eyes still closed you reach out and wiggle your fingers through her fur. If Dakota so much as looks at you, you'll laugh out loud and Michigan has had your exploring fingers in her ears more then once. Ah Puppy love!
Daddee has been gone for two weeks and it's just been you and me. He misses you like crazy and you miss him back. You've always been really good with being passed around but after the first week you decided you were NOT okay with strangers. I'm sure it's from spending 24 hrs a day with Momma and not having a 5:30 pass off. Poor kiddo! (Mimi comes to town tomorrow to give you a break) In the meantime you have developed a love for the telephone. Twice a day you talk to Daddee and every other phone call you try to get in on the action. One hand goes to the phone and the other pinches my lips. A very clear "Your turn is over"!
On or off the phone you love to talk and sing. We've been watching American Idol and you sing, sing, SING along with the contestants. More then once your Pops has called and chuckled at you in the background. We've let you have a few bits of food in the last three weeks. Bananas, Avocados and Egg Yolk score pretty high with you. If we try baby food or cereal you end up wearing more then you eat. If you're gonna be picky I'm glad you lean towards the healthier items! (As I type this you are determindly licking a limp piece of asparagus that you snagged off my dinner plate. Heehee) At your five month appointment you weighed 16.9 pounds, signed "Milk" to the very impressed doctor and got your next round of shots which you hated. You are almost out of your Med. cloth diapers and can sit up for a few minutes at a time before you melt onto your elbows. You have finally found your feet and favor your left one over your right. If determined enough you can scoot forward a few inches. You still adore string and ribbon and have added lock of hair to that list. (Ouch!) When you nurse you work your fingers on my shirt or pat me sweetly. Daddee calls you "Bugs" and I've been calling you "Lumpty Loo".
My favorite memory of the month- We were taking a nap earlier this week. After 15 minutes your eyelids started to flutter. I thought I could fake you out by closing my eyes and get you to sleep a little more. NOPE! You took your teeny fingers and poked them into my eyes! I thought it was a fluke so I closed my eyes again. NOPE! You stabbed me again and grinned your silly gummy grin with a very well stated "Momma, I am awake. You should have open eyes so you can look at me! I will help you!"
I love you little bird and I love becoming your friend. Thanks for five months worth of smiles, giggles, hugs, open mouth kisses, snuggles, songs and stories!
Hugs~ Momma
